plywould replied to your post: A humble request Wouldn’t it be just as easy (and ask less of the tumblrverse) to leave your dash and go , for instance, thesilentist.tumblr.com and search (or jscroll through) to find that particular post? or just google ‘silentist’ and ‘whatever keyword you need’? For lots of purposes, sure. But, not for replying to a post and that is one of my favourite parts...

Suggestion Saturday
Does Tumblr have a version of Twitter’s Follow Friday (ff)? I’m not aware of one, so I’m going to do Suggestion Saturday. I’ll try to recommend at least one of my favourite #menswear Tumblrs each Saturday. #ff on Twitter has become next to useless and people just post lists of their friends with no explanation of why they deserve a follow. I’ll explain why my choice...

A humble request
Can people start tagging their posts with the name of their own Tumblr? Although there is no way to search your dash for a specific Tumblr, you can search by tag. So, if I wanted to find a particular post by The Silentist, I currently have to scroll through the entire dash. But, if he tagged all his posts #thesilentist (or #the silentist), I could filter with this tag. That would make the task of...

Tie Space →
Have you ever given serious thought to the tie space on the collar of your shirt? No? Me neither. That’s why everyone should be following Will over at A Suitable Wardrobe. I don’t necessarily aspire to dress like him, at least not at 34 I don’t, but he does an amazing job of calling our attention to the little details that add up to make a style.

urbanooutfitters replied to your photo: Tweed on tweed? I’m wearing a tweed jacket with a… yes. agree. tweed on tweed, cosigned by Anthony & Dustin Great! I will certainly do it again. The pants are a very light tweed, so I think as long as the colour and pattern aren’t close, they’ll work with other tweeds. We’ll have to wait and see.

thisfits replied to your photo: Tweed on tweed? I’m wearing a tweed jacket with a… I like it. Thanks. I’ve tossed it on a couple of times before, only to take it off, because I wasn’t sure. Then, I decided to just do it and if it worked, it worked. If not, the worst that would happen is…? I don’t even know. Can anything bad happen because you make a sartorial...

urbanooutfitters replied to your post:   urbanooutfitters replied to your photo: Henley… disclaimer: we’re no experts here. just uneducated menswear opinions. We think its the shoulders and the wider lapel - kinda businessy. Corduroy, or chino as you said, though for sure though I totally see it with the shoulders, but I’m going to disagree on the lapels. I don’t think...

Pure Stupidity
I’ve generally stayed away from straight up hating on things on this Tumblr. I’ve mocked a few looks, but meant it to be generally good natured. However, I was just browsing a certain much loved #menswear site[1] and in my browsing saw that a Bathing Ape pocket square supposedly retails for $190!?! Even at 70% off it was still $57. Give me a fucking break. The thing doesn’t even...

thingsthatpleaseme asked: I think it's not that tweed is stuffy or formal (it's actually a casual fabric by history). Tweed is substantial and thus needs something substantial to standup beneath it. It's why I'm not a huge merino + tweed fan, either. Tweed is a hearty, country fabric and demands something a bit heavier IMO. But you'd be hard pressed to find me out of an OCBD anyway, so what do I...

elijahlain replied to your photo: Henley with Tweed? Yay or nay? If you ask me, any kind of jacket demands a collar. A sportcoat over non-collared shirt suggests a lack of knowledge and awareness of basic style foundations. At best, it comes across hip and trendy. Experimentation is great! The results, not always. “Experimentation is great! The results, not always.”  Truer...

unclebeebo asked: I think the henley with tweed can be tricky because tweed tends to be a more "stuffy" or serious fabric. I would love to see a more comprehensive head to toe pic, bc it could be that we just need to see the whole look. I do agree with you that it may look better with an unstructured chino blazer.

girouxmcisaak asked: I think the pocket square makes it look a little too formal. It also depends on what you are wearing below. I think if you have jeans/worn-in chinos and maybe boots, it could work.

urbanooutfitters replied to your photo: Henley with Tweed? Yay or nay? yay with maybe a more casual blazer Interesting. What would qualify as more casual? Do you think the shoulders of this tweed are too structured for the look?  I wonder if it could work with a chino blazer, and help make that seasonally appropriate.

healoneisgod replied to your photo: Henley with Tweed? Yay or nay? I want to like it, but in the back of my mind, I just can’t help but think, “awkward.” What do you mean by “awkward”? The mix of casual and tailored? Do you think it’s specifically here, or just the combination, in general?

afistfulofstyle replied to your photo: Henley with Tweed? Yay or nay? I like the idea, but it looks not quite right without looking specifically “experimental” (for lack of a better term). If it’s working for you, yay. If you’re still on the fence at the end of the day, nay. I like it, but am still on the fence about it. That’s why I was looking for some #menswear input.

Watches
I’m not a watch guy, although I am on the lookout for a watch. Today, I decided to check out the vintage options on eBay. I guess I have decent taste because every time I liked the look of a watch, the price was invariably a few hundred, if not a few thousand dollars.

prodigal-punk replied to your photo: Accessories at Brooks Brothers are 40% off. Today… With your punk/ hardcore past and having seen some of your WIWT’s, I think you could make it work. I love the Harris Tweed one they have, but I would HAVE to try one on first Thanks. Perhaps you’re right. I tend to doubt hats the moment they hit my head.
