Musings on Pleats and Rise
I tried on three pairs of pleated pants at Value Village today. I bought two of them. It also led me to a supposition.
Everything people hold against pleats is really an assessment of the combination of pleats and a low rise.
Two of the pants had a higher rise, at or just below my belly button. They need to be taken in, but I can tell they’ll likely be flattering. The third pair had a much more contemporary low rise. The pleats combined with the low waist made the pants flare out in a very unflattering way.
My sample size was too small to draw any absolute conclusions, but I will be casting my eye to waistlines to assess this potentially lethal combo.
